Training & Consultation

Melony has years of experience within the Child Welfare system. She has a deep understanding of what staff, families and children experience and are challenged with. Due to Melony's extensive experience with foster, adoption and attachment she is an asset to consultation and training in these realms.

Melony has conducted training over the years to include training on foster care, adoption, the process of attachment, grief and loss, mental health, leadership, and more. She has presented training for:

  • Shasta County HHSA/Childrens Services

  • Lilliput Families, A Part of Wayfinder Family Services

  • California State University, Chico

  • Shasta College (Redding, CA)

Lifebooks

Participants receive training on Life Books and how this supports and intersects with the 7 Core Issues of Adoption. Lifebooks are trauma informed, foster/adoption competent, adaptable tool for which a child and family can process their experience and support identity formation in a permanent family. The Life Books training supports children in telling their story as well as self-care strategies for parents during this process.

The 7 Core issues of adoption

Participants receive training on The 7 Core Issues of Adoption. The 7 Core Issues of Adoption training will support pre and post adoption families in sustaining an understanding of the needs of children and adoptive families towards stability and compassion. The training also includes self-care strategies for parents.
